Lower Tuolumne River Fishing Report - June 3rd, 2025

The Lower Tuolumne River is currently running at 144 CFS, which is a great flow for those looking to wade this section. For anglers hoping to drift, the water is low enough that dragging the boat over shallow areas is likely. The weather this week is expected to be warm, with highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 60s.

Weather & River ConditionsThe section of river above the Old La Grange Bridge looks completely transformed following the river restoration project. There are now many great runs and deep seams where fish tend to hold. This section also offers excellent dry fly fishing this time of year, along with indicator nymphing. The current water level makes this section highly accessible for wading, with the majority of the river being wadeable.

Fishing TechniquesThis stretch supports a wide range of tactics, including dry fly fishing and nymphing, making it an attractive option for many anglers.

Recommended Flies

  • PMD Dries
  • Elk Hair Caddis
  • Prince Nymphs
  • Red Darts

These flies are effective for targeting trout in this restored section.

OutlookWith good wading access and diverse fishing options, this area is well suited for an enjoyable day on the water. Although the water flows are lower compared to other rivers, the warmer temperatures mean it’s important to bring sun protection and plenty of water.
