The North Fork was flowing at about 275 CFS this weekend, cold and clear without much fluctuation. Sourgrass Day-Use was packed all weekend with anglers and families splashing away. Morning and evening Mayfly hatches were seen on the calm water along with some sweet dragonfly moults on the shore and grasses. The accessibility of this stretch makes this a great spot for beginner anglers. Once the water clears from the daily activities it is pretty easy to sneak up on some decent sized trout hiding out in the holes and under downed trees. Use a dry fly or dry dropper to match what you can find along the shore. For flies we recommended parachute Adams, elk hair caddis, stimulators, rubber leg copper johns, flashback pheasant tail and TJ Hookers.
Simms Pursuit Shoes kept my toes safe while the Simms Beverage Holster kept my beverage accessible. A full brim sun hat is advisable and polarized sunglasses always make a huge difference.
