North Fork Stanislaus River Fishing Report - October 13, 2025

The North Fork of the Stanislaus River is currently running at 175cfs, though with the incoming storm and expected precipitation over the next few days, flows may rise slightly. While these levels are a bit higher than what we typically see this time of year, there are still plenty of fishable sections along this stretch.

Weather Outlook

Cooler conditions are on the way, with highs in the mid-50s and steady precipitation through the first half of the week. By the weekend, the weather is expected to warm slightly, with highs returning to the low 70s.

Tactics & Fly Recommendations

With the cool air temperatures and low-pressure system moving in, anglers will find the most success using euro nymphing or indicator nymphing setups. During these conditions, trout often sit deeper in the water column, particularly in slow, deep runs. Focus on those areas for the best results, as fish tend to group up there until the storm system passes.

Recommended flies:

  • Pheasant Tail Nymphs
  • Jig Hare’s Ear Nymphs
  • Fire Orange Perdigons
  • San Juan Worms (especially effective with precipitation)

Season Outlook

While we’re getting our first taste of winter and the peak of summer fishing has passed, this transition period offers excellent opportunities. Crowds are minimal, and fish are beginning to congregate in deeper water. Just be sure to bring plenty of layers and rain gear to stay comfortable on the water.
